Vocational education

The shift towards a new economic structure has been based on the skilled laborforce. In the field of economic development, great emphasis has been put on creating an optimal and diversified economic structure. The qualification and skillfulness of the local labor provide a solid foundation for the location of high added value and advanced technologies. Ensuring skillful labor is of key importance for the further development of the city and maintaining its competitiveness.
The local government takes an important role in the coordination of the cooperation between employers and vocational institutions in order to ensure that vocational education in the city meets the requirements of the demand on the labor market and enable the vocational system to react flexibly to the arising demand. For this purpose, the Local Government of Tatabánya and the Local Government of Oroszlány have jointly established the Tatabánya-Oroszlány Vocational Education Association.

The Tatabánya-Oroszlány Vocational Education Association (new type of Regional Integrated Vocational Training Centre) was created following the changes in the Act LXXVII. of 1996 on vocational contribution and the support of vocational education development, jointly by the General Assembly of the Representatives of Tatabánya and the General Assembly of the Representatives of Oroszlány. This step became necessary as the old type of Regional Integrated Vocational Training Centres could only receive development subsidies as Central Education Institutions and as that only until the 1st of January, 2010. With the establishment of the Association, the local governments of Tatabánya and Oroszlány met the prerequisite for their vocational schools to access vocational contributions.
